I'm off to New York for Surtex and the National Stationery Show! I am super excited to go back to New York (haven't been back since my RISD days!) and be inspired by the talented artists and designers exhibiting. My friend Jeanetta Gonzales is debuting her collection this year at Surtex in Booth 734 & 736. Also looking forward to roaming around the city and seeing the latest sites, especially the High Line and the New Museum.

I will be light on posting until I'm back after the show. Have a great week and be sure to come back next Friday, May 24 for tons of Big Bright and Bold inspiration.

Had an inspiring chat with Ju Kim, the founder of Blooms in the Air at last weekend's Unique LA. Ju is an archi-designer by day and a crafter by night. The talented artist married her creative talents with her attention to detail to create the simple and well crafted floral keepsakes.

According to Ju, "Blooms in the Air is a petite whimsical handmade paper flower shop. The shop came to life when a desire to create something beautiful using my own to hands grew too big to ignore. BiTA believes in the simple honest joy that flowers give and hope that the inspired arrangements will leave you and your loved ones smiling. At Bloom is in the Air, flowers are always in season and always in style."

One of my favorite finds at Unique LA last weekend was Asher Market. The custom designed Peruvian Alpaca throws are super soft and super bold.

The Asher Market alpaca blankets come straight from the hands of selective artisans in Peru.
Love the fuschia throws from Asher Market!

According to the designer bio, "While traveling through Peru, Erin happened upon these gorgeous alpaca throws and wanted to share their beauty with the world. Once home, she teamed up with her sister, Ashley, and they put their designer minds together. The outcome is Asher Market: a collection of stunning alpaca throws that are both stylish and durable. The colors are vibrant and the patterns are exquisite."

Was apartment shopping this weekend, and finally got the chance to peer inside the fancy new apartment complex in Marina Del Rey. Stella was envisioned and built by a team of locally-based developers, architects and designers that have come together to introduce an entirely new residential concept to the Marina. Forward thinking, avant architecture, high design, elemental influences and intriguing gathering spaces — all creating a look, style and experience that makes Stella a unique destination.

I was especially drawn to the commissioned Stina Persson murals and identity materials that promote the modern complex.
