IMAGES D'ORIENT

This tabletop collection, inspired by patterns and details from Middle Eastern Architecture, is such a stunning twist on tradition! I definitely noticed these coasters and trivets at a few modern boutiques in Morocco and am excited to find them available online!

According to their bio, "Images d’Orient is a contemporary concept paying tribute to the legacy
of past civilizations. We believe in a world where diversity is embraced, where modern is a resonance of ancient. Our line of designer objects will give your table a distinctive look, both vintage and futuristic." And, the colors are super luscious!

MOROCCO: BERBER TRADITION

These Berber wedding blankets are adorned with hand applied sequins. I love the crafty glamour and wish I picked one up!

According to Apartment Therapy, "Known as Moroccan wedding blankets, handira are woven out of sheep's wool, cotton and linen by Berber women in the Middle Atlas mountains of Northern Morocco. It can take many hours — even weeks — of work to attach those hundreds of mirrored sequins once the weaving is complete. Almost Modernist in their restrained aesthetics, handira are neutral in color (though often accented with bands of kilim patterns), enlivened with rectilinear lines or boxes of texture. At the same time, the sequins lend a touch of glamour, and the texture and handmade feel of the blankets add a traditional exoticism."

CASABLANCA: CATHEDRAL LIGHTS

The Sacre Couer Cathedral in Casablanca was a beautiful surprise. From the outside, it looks like a white deco monolith, but inside, a jewel box glitters.

MOROCCO: FLORESCENT STRIPES

I'm so excited that I finally have gotten the chance to decorate my place with a few of my Moroccan finds. This Moroccan bedspread was an unusual jewel, eye popping florescent in a country known for beautifully rich earth tones. The florescent stripes jumped out at my mom, and we immediately grabbed it, paying full price when the vendor (for the first time) would not budge on the price. So glad we did! It looks incredibly bright, perfect for a Los Angeles summer.
