BEATRICE VALENZUELA: LIFE AS ART

Had a great visit with Beatrice Valenzuela at her new Echo Park flagship shop. 

According to her bio, "Raised in Mexico City, Beatrice Valenzuela moved to Los Angeles 10 years ago and has been working as a stylist and designer every since. Her eponymous line of shoes for men, women and children takes its inspiration from ancient footwear and the traditional styles of her native country of Mexico. Beatrice lives her life as art, infusing beauty and care into everything she does from cooking to styling to designing her popular line of shoes."

BEATRICE VALENZUENA: FLAGSHIP

Beatrice Valenzuela's new Echo Park shop was a wonderful find. I visited the colorful boutique after our walking tour of the Silverlake Stairs last Saturday.

The custom designed shoes - handmade in Mexico City - are the focus of the store. Beatrice's Pinterest message, "searching for beauty everywhere" is showcased in the flagship boutique. The shop is full of unique wares that are displayed like works of art: from the simplest bold buds bursting fuscia from a vase to  crafted ceramic stones displayed in a rustic bowl.

Took a slight detour this week and wanted to update the blog with what's been happening lately in Los Angeles. Definitely have a lot more Turkish inspiration to share, and will resume featuring unique sights and shops next Monday.

URBANIC: TROPHY CUPCAKES

Excited to share a few photos from the recent Urbanic Book release party, hosted with Trophy to celebrate the new Cupcakes and Parties book.

We enjoyed DIY, Bubbly and Buttercream (as well as lemon meringue, chocolate and all sorts of delicious frosting combinations) last Tuesday and chatted with the talented Jennifer Shea.

Always happy to peruse the displays at Urbanic, the lovely stationery and gift store on Abbot Kinney. Their ever changing seasonal decorations are always the perfect place to get inspired for upcoming holidays. 

HARVARD-WESTLAKE BROCHURE

Excited to finally share a brochure cover I designed for Harvard-Westlake School. Wanting to incorporate my recent watercolor pursuits into a client project, I sketched diverse scholastic symbols and collaged them together for the Admission brochure artwork.
