PENDLETON: NATIVE RAINBOW

One of my surprise finds in Portland was the Pendleton company home store.

These heritage blankets in Portland's Pendleton store are a bold mix of modern tradition. Inspired by Native American designs and legends, the patterns and colors fit in a variety of homes. I had no idea the store still sold Northwest classics for over 140 years. The Pendleton Tribute Series pays homage to the American mills that pioneered the weaving of Indian trade blankets. See more about my Portland trip here.

San Francisco's ModShop is all about color. Bold, graphic black and white is a timeless trend in decor, especially the Hollywood Regency Style. San Francisco's Room Service Store has recently become "ModShop." In keeping with the company's intention to bring their clientele the freshest, most innovative designs, the company refreshed its own look.

For ModShop, it's not just about selling furniture and electric home accessories, but selling a comfortable, relaxed lifestyle. Owners John & Taryn Bernard design most of the furniture themselves. They draw inspiration from vintage stores, swap meets, clean lined European design, urban loft styles and mid-century modern, adding in the fabulous glamour of the old Hollywood Regency era. The owners use their experience in the apparel industry to keep the products moving forward with the trends.

The electric new Prabal Gurung collection for Target has bright, bold prints, flattering silhouettes, edgy accessories and budget-friendly prices.

According to Target, "New York-based Prabal Gurung has been leading the wave of new American designers since his debut collection in 2009. His design philosophy is characterized by a mixture of modern luxury, indelible style and an astute sense of glamour—all of which are prominently featured in his upcoming collection."
