TRENDWATCH: MONDRIAN

I am happy to present a new feature on BigBright&Bold: TrendWatch. Mondays will officially showcase new design and pattern trends.

Mondrian's artwork seems to be everywhere lately. Kate Spade launched a line of iphone cases, bags, sweaters and scarves. SFMOMA even serves a mondrian slice. The Vespa scooter is super cute as is the Mondrian cube chair. I like the Mondrian inspired products that break out of the blue, red and yellow box. There is even a Mondrian development here in Playa Vista!

JANUARY IN REVIEW

Wow! I can't believe that it's already February! This month has been incredibly busy and January 1 seems like so long ago. I am so excited that 2013 started off with such a bang. I had the good fortune of working with several new clients as well as finishing up some rewarding projects. A few good friends and family visited, which called for an impromptu dinner party. We had a blast touring Silverlake, and discovering several new shops. We even snuck in a weekend trip to Portland, and I still have a few posts to dedicate to all the inspiring boutiques we saw. Both the trip to Portland and the trip to the Disney Concert Hall were incredible Christmas gifts, and our Bottega Louie soufflé could quite possible have been the best dessert I've ever had! My dad even tried to teach me how to make Polish crepes. What a month!

STUDIO: ASSEMBLY IDENTITY

I am super excited to "officially" present an identity and branding project I have been working on for several months. The logo and pattern design for Assembly Salon was a thrilling project. Assembly Salon, a beauty bar opening soon in Beverly Hills, will offer blowouts, braids, ponytails, nail care and makeup application all under one roof. It's always great to work with such an inspired and creative client, one who appreciates color and pattern as much as I do! The creative inspiration involved Palm Beach and Hollywood Glamour. The final design uses a bright coral hue in an intelocking pattern to make a strong and timeless mark.
