SF MARITIME MUSEUM: BOLD DECO

Sargent Johnson's Art Deco Mural is completely bold and modern today, almost eighty years after he designed it. The SF Maritime Museum visit was a brief interlude on Thanksgiving, and the mural was definitely a great find to inspect closer. I love the colors and the abstract nature of its aquatic motifs.

VICKI BOLEN: HAND CRAFTED

One of my favorite parts of blogging has been the people I have gotten to meet when I introduce myself to start photographing for my blog posts. I met Vicki Bolen at the California Woman Craft Show a few weeks ago. Her work is beautifully one of a kind, each card is a sewn collage. She even brought  a sewing machine to the show, to make custom "hand prints."  I love the tactile nature of the holiday cards, which become unique gifts themselves.
