MY STUDIO
Somehow I'm always surrounded by bright, colorful things! The 30 foot yellow wall definitely helps in having a sunny outlook. I'm still working on a custom mural for my studio (and really should do a post about all my design ideas for that!), so for now aboriginal pillows and colorful prints will have to do.

BEHIND THE SCENES
It's funny that when I work on my own designs, I seldom stop to document the process. I'm usually furiously cutting, gluing and sewing the cards, without stopping to think or to photograph. I was recently asked to be the "Artist of the month" for an online boutique. In preparation for their post, I wanted to submit photos that show me working, rather than just the finished products. Definitely harder than it seems, but here is a sneak peek. Will keep you posted for when the interview goes live!

OLVERITAS: OTOMI TEXTILES
I have been a huge fan of these Otomi textiles. A few years ago, I visited Puerto Vallarta and was on the hunt for them, only finding a few remnants my last day at the airport.
I’m a graphic designer + artist, by profession, so by nature, whatever appeals to me on the tactile, colorful, patterned, artistic side, I tend to go gaga over. Some great ways to bring in some flavor into your home: vibrant touches of color and pattern can really liven up a space, particularly a white room…and I’m officially obsessed with Otomi + classic, handmade-vibe Mexican design. I found these examples in Olvera's street Olveritas shop. I may officially be on the hunt for some Otomi of my own. They are hand embroidered works of art and fantastic pops of color.
