As my final post about Platform, I wanted to share some of the unique, smaller treatures the store sells. The store's concept is "a multi-purpose concept space offering an art gallery, retail environment and trend library." The vignette displays sure do hold up to its philosophy.

Platform a highland park shop focusing on modern craft aestetic creatively curated has a superb gallery show up. Love the abstract paintings by Molly Millar, a Los Angeles artist. According to Molly's website, "Molly's work, consisting mostly of abstract paintings and drawings, combines the physical and psychological landscape. She constructs her paintings from memory directly associating place with experience. This combination of the outer world with the inner world places the work in between location, emotion and memory."

Since it's been a while since I've featured local design shops, I thought it was a good time to travel east and photograph the inspiring environment at Platform.
The husband and wife team behind Platform possess an eye for the interesting and unique, and aim to offer their community a new retailing concept. A place that combines art, shopping and inspiration, Platform features rotating exhibits, as well as merchandise obtained from local designers and trips to India, Europe and Mexico. Sarah and Alex combine their love for nature and craftsmanship, to create a look that is fresh, eclectic, and stylish.

Perusing through Platform (See previous post here) was similar to poking through an eclectic bazaar, except with more selective curation. The goods are unique and worldy, displayed in creative combinations. From Tibetan bead necklaces to apothecary jars filled with seashells, the displays somehow work together and embody a bohemian California style. Love the mix of local artist's block printed leather purses juxtaposed against indigo dyed scarves and Moroccan rugs. The store showcases a global selection of treasures.
According to the owners, Sarah Brady and Alex Cole, Platform offers a modern experience in shopping. "We want to stay flexible and surprising, changing our products and artists regularly. Platform showcases fashion, jewelry, house wares, and other objects made by friends, small designers, or just things we have collected while traveling. Basically, everything and anything that inspires your home, life and appearance."

Inspired by my friend and fellow blogger's post about Platform (See Jeanetta Gonzales's post about a Well Traveled Style here) I ventured east. Located in Highland Park, Platform is a multi-purpose concept space, offering an art gallery, retail environment and studio. The husband and wife team - Alex Cole and Sarah Brady - specialize in home staging, home styling, workshops, pop-up shops & prop rentals. According to their bio,"We platform everything we love, create and are inspired by!"
I had such a fabulous afternoon shooting global finds and local treasures, chatting with Maggie, the store associate, and learning about the store's unique vision.
