JONATHAN ADLER: COOL MENAGERIE

A visit to Jonathan Adler always yields an explosion of color. The Fillmore boutique is one of my favorites. The products are updated pretty often, but they are always fun and refreshing. Whimsical with a sense of humor and a dash of mod/60's happy style, the Jonathan Adler shop carries unique items for the home, including lighting, furniture and furnishings for every room.

On my last visit, I especially liked the "Sumi Menagerie" by Jenna Snyder-Phillips. According to the bio, "NYC-based artist Jenna brings to life a menagerie of graphic black and white exotic animal paintings. In this series of original large-scale Japanese sumi ink works, harsh charcoal lines juxtapose fluid brush strokes for a blending of drawing, sketching, and painting techniques." Zebra patterns are always a hit, but these pieces truly stand out.
