Everyone needs a daily dose of color and pattern inspiration. BigBrightBold inspires and delights through showcasing colorful places, spaces and things.
Clyde Common is an institution in the Portland culinary scene, so as soon as I landed, we programmed the GPS for a lunchtime treat. The meal surpassed the high expecations: the root vegetable salad was as flavorful as it was colorful. Every course was a delicious surprise. I loved the industrial space, open kitchen and shared farm table.

One of our first stops in Portland was the Froelick Gallery.
I especially liked the typographic nature of Alfred Harris's work. The collaged paintings beckoned from inside the window. Harris shreds once-organized compositions and reassembles them under glossed resin to create bold, collage paintings. The bold strokes evoke letter forms, layered into analogous palettes. The gallery curator was kind enough to tell us about the Artist's biography and showed a few pieces that were not on display.

Portland's explosive design scene has been calling, and was definitely overdue for a much anticipated visit. An impromptu weekend in the Northwest design Mecca was truly an inspiring time! We met so many creative shop owners, ate so many memorable meals, and criss crossed the walkable city's design neighborhoods. Art and inspiration were literally found on every street corner, and getting lost resulted in numerous serendipitous finds. Some shops were discovered through their colorful window displays, other shops specifically navigated to thanks to designer friends' recommendations. Everyone was so nice and helpful. It was as enjoyable chatting with the shop owners as it was photographing the beautiful wares. Stay tuned for numerous posts this week sharing what we discovered.

I love digging through the vintage clothing at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. These vintage florals are so fun! Last Sunday was full of serendipitous discoveries and retro inspiration.
