KYYOTE: LOS ANGELES COLOR

I totally love the orange and fuchsia necklace I picked up from Kyyote, at this weekend's UNIQUE LA. The artist, Amanda Loos, was super sweet in talking about her quickly growing business. The only hard part was choosing which necklace to buy.

The pieces truly resonated with me (and definitely with a lot of other people stopping by the booth!). The colors and forms are evocative of the our bright, glowing city, and it's no surprise that the Los Angeles landscape deeply inspires the artist. According to Amanda, "The work is influenced by the order and integrity of geometry, and the interplay of positive and negative space. The resulting jewelry is delicate and playful, evoking endless summers clear blue skies, and Technicolor sunsets."

The collection is available at the Moca Design store and online. Each piece is handcrafted in the artist's Los Angeles studio. Photos courtesy of Kyyote.

KYYOTE: MODERN ADORNMENT

I met Amanda Loos, the designer and founder of Kyyote, at this weekend's UNIQUE LA. Her table was surrounded by visitors enamored with the colorful wares. The delicate necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are simple, yet striking, begging to be picked up. The unique displays showed off the colors and forms.

BIGGER BRIGHTER BOLDER HOLIDAY

I'm working on a new product for the holidays, a 2013 calendar with my recent artwork. Here's a few sneak peeks. Digital versions will be available for download on BigBrightBold in 2013, while the printed ones will be sent out as gifts. I had so much fun playing with type today.

THE STANDARD: RED HOT

It's a bit funny that my inspiring interiors this week are the bathrooms of the bars we celebrated my birthday in. But, hanging out at the Standard tonight reminded me how much I used to love visiting this place. The rooftop on a Sunday is a fabulous place for a mojito, and it prolonged the birthday celebration a bit longer. The red lobby has always been a fun place to mingle, and the retro wallpaper is a great contrast to the voyeuristic girl mural.

VICEROY: GREEN GLAMOUR

A few drinks into my birthday celebration, I still managed to get a few photos at the Viceroy. This Kelly Wearstler designed hotel is still totally chic, and the green bathroom is so incredibly glamorous.
