WEST ELM MINTED CHALLENGE: BRIGHT IKAT

I am super excited that another one of my ikat paintings won the second West Elm Minted Challenge. West Elm is one of my favorite home decor stores, so it is especially awesome to have my artwork available through this contest. This watercolor painting is a modern interpretation of an ethnic Ikat, influenced by recent travels to Morocco and Turkey. The new print is available here. See the previous challenge here.

CARIS COLLAGE WORLDS

I was so inspired by the last collage class, that I immediately signed up for the second workshop when Caris was visiting again. Spending more time making collages and working by hand has been a goal for the new year. A class is always a good opportunity to structure being creative as well as a time to meet other creatives. A few of my friends and fellow designers signed up for this workshop, so it was an extra fun afternoon. I especially liked seeing how different people worked with similar materials to create diverse collage worlds.

COLLAGE WITH CARIS: IN PROGRESS

Wanted to include some process photos of my friends diligently cutting away on their Collage with Caris creations. The workshop was a few hours long, so we sat down and quickly got to work with whatever images jumped out at us. Caris leads the workshop in a pretty organic way, providing a bunch of creative materials in organized piles but letting us choose what strikes our fancy. She walks around the room, guiding and advising, but everyone's creations end up looking pretty different.

COLLAGE WITH CARIS: SECOND TIME

Had the chance to take another Collage with Caris class last weekend. Caris initially offered collage workshops using vintage material in New York City, but recently introduced a few courses in Los Angeles. I had such an inspired experience in the last class, and this time I got the chance to try new techniques and new imagery. It was so fun to play with different vintage photos, cut them and recombine them into new art forms.

POSTMARK: SNEAK PEEKS

Excited to share some behind-the-scenes photos of our upcoming Postmark Designs. One of our very talented designers, Cindy Lee-Tsu painted this pretty script typography for some Postmark Thank You Notes and Wedding Invitations. Love the delicate style and punchy colors. The coral washes and flowing type make for a pretty wedding collection.
