POSTMARK: BEHIND THE SCENES

It's exciting to share some photos of the magic that goes into our Postmark invitations. Most of the designs are started as sketches by hand, and a lot of effort goes into creating the custom artwork. The team has been working with watercolors lately, and this series of pretty patterns and swirling type feels super fresh for spring. Cindy Lee-Tsu began experimenting with a new set of watercolors a few weeks ago, and the results are stunning.

BARRINGTON BLUE: GLOBAL PATTERNS

As the final post about Barrington Blue, I wanted to show the diversity of the global patterns. From Uzbekistan Suzanis and Turkish Kilims to Moroccan Berber Carpets, the products of Barrington Blue transform incredible textiles into modern heirlooms. Though from diverse corners of the world, they have been curated by Carrie and play well together. I love the mix and match of pattern, color, and texture.

BARRINGTON BLUE: BOLD TEXTILES

Because I enjoyed visiting The Barrington Blue Studio, I wanted to share more photos of the colorful textiles.

Born out of a love of travel, design, upholstery and textile craft, Barrington Blue breathes new life into vintage & handmade textiles. Carrie collects global textiles and handcrafts one-of-a-kind pieces and upholstery from her finds. I love the diverse patterns and textiles, and the final products are incredibly well made. They truly are unique works of art, whether a pillow, a bench, or a footstool.

BARRINGTON BLUE: IN THE STUDIO

Today, and for the rest of the week, I am excited to share the beautiful, and insanely inspiring studio and products of Barrington Blue. I met Carrie, the founder and creative mind behind the shop, at last year's Rose Bowl. She was selling gorgeous one-of-a-kind pillows designed and fabricated by her in Los Angeles. The pillows were sourced from unique global textiles and loaded with vibrant patterns. See the original post here

I reached out to Carrie to help turn my favorite Moroccan rug into a few pillows (more on that process, next week!) and I got the chance to visit her new space when we were coordinating the design. The Los Angeles studio is brimming with textiles, shelves full of colorful inspiration from around the world. From Bolivian blankets to African Mudcloths, Carrie imports and transforms incredible pieces into even more incredible, usable products. She has a keen eye for combining global finds and having them work in a modern home. Be sure to check out her online shop here and come back tomorrow for more views into Carrie's vibrant wares.

SEMERKAND SUZANI: TURKISH TEXTILES

Semerkand Suzani in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar was the best place to find a modern, well made Suzani pillow or throw. The owner really knew his pieces, and was a friendly Suzani expert. He was willing to disucss the quality and age of the pieces, and had contemporary, less expensive cotton examples as well as gorgeous, antique silk artifacts.
